With Oshkosh behind us, August aviation events offer opportunities for young eagles, drone pilots, and Beatles fans.
Saturday, August 1, Sutter County Airport (O52) Young Eagles flights are available from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with EAA Chapter 1593. Spots for youth ages 8 to 17 were still available as of a July 27 announcement from the organization. The usual cheesesteak lunch fundraiser is cancelled for Saturday’s event in lieu of a memorial for pilot Jerry Binse.
Saturday, August 1, Aerospace Museum of California at McClellan (MCC) The museum is hosting back to back candlelight concerts. A tribute to the Beatles runs from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. followed by a tribute to Michael Jackson from 8:45 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. Tickets for each event are sold separately and available through event promotion company Fever. There is limited availability as of publication time.
Saturday, August 1, Auburn Airport (AUN) Auburn airport is hosting an aircraft display days through Monday, August 3. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Admission is free and hangars will be open to the public, according to an announcement. Public parking is available outside the airport perimeter. Breakfast and lunch are available at Wings restaurant. Picnic lunches are also allowed, the announcement said.
Saturday, August 1, Placerville Airport (PVF) The monthly pancake breakfast supporting EAA 512 is scheduled to start at 8 a.m.
Saturday, August 1, Frazier Lake Airpark (1C9) A display day and open house is scheduled for at Frazier Lake Airpark. The event is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Sunday, August 9, Aerospace Museum of California at McClellan (MCC) The museum is hosting a whoop drone race starting at 10 a.m. The event is organized by the Sacramento drone racing league chapter, Sacramento MultiGP. General admission is included with admission to the museum. Track setup and pilot arrival starts at 10 a.m. with finals starting at 1:30 p.m.
Wednesday, August 19, Lincoln Community Meeting Room, Lincoln City Hall The monthly Lincoln Regional Airport Committee is scheduled to meet at 10 a.m. The meeting agenda has not been released at time of publication.
Wednesday, August 19, Sacramento Executive Airport (SAC) The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Air Squadron’s monthly meeting is scheduled at 5:30 p.m.
Friday, August 28 through Sunday, August 29, Lincoln Regional Airport (LHM) The 2026 Wings and Wheels fly-in and car show is slated to feature historic aircraft, hot air balloons, and classic cars. Organizers are expecting more than 10,000 guests this year. A hot air balloon glow will start at 5 p.m. on Friday and gates open at 7 a.m. for Saturday’s event. Entry to the balloon show is $5 per person and there is a $10 entry fee for Saturday. A VIP experience is also available that gives attendees preferred parking and exclusive entrance along with a dinner Friday night and VIP tent access on Saturday. The event is presented by the Lincoln Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Lincoln. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
