About Wingman
Wingman Aviation News is published by Hazlip Creative, a sole proprietorship owned by Mike Hazlip. Wingman covers more than 25 airports in the Sacramento Valley and surrounding foothills. We strive to give the local general aviation community a voice and create a common landing site where relevant information can be easily shared.

Corrections
Wingman Aviation News is committed to accuracy. When we make a mistake, we correct it openly, promptly, and in a way that is easy for readers to find.

We verify facts with primary sources before publication rather than relying on secondhand information. We avoid publishing causal claims about incident causes unless they are part of a quote, confirmed on the record by someone with firsthand knowledge, or by an official investigative finding. Preliminary speculation, even if widely repeated by other outlets, is not treated as fact. When we’re not sure, we say so, or we hold the details until we can confirm it. We avoid publishing aircraft tail numbers involved in fatal incidents until next of kin are notified.

Readers can report any errors to the publisher at mike at wingmanaviationnews.com

Minimizing Harm
Wingman strives to balance the aviation community’s right to know with minimizing potential harm to businesses and agencies that operate at airports within our coverage area. Identifying details such as aircraft tail numbers, exact locations, or the names of pilots working with law enforcement or the military may be omitted from a story if there is a security risk. Wingman aims to maintain good source relations while keeping the aviation community informed. Wingman will not reveal the identity of a source if it will cause harm.

On the Record
We always identify as a journalist to sources prior to asking any questions. Wingman treats all statements made to us as “on the record.” If a source is unsure of the accuracy or veracity of a statement, we will treat the information as a news tip or background information and work to verify the statement with other sources. Wingman can still use “off the record” information if we can verify it with another source or it leads to another story.

Editorial Independence
One of the goals for Wingman Aviation News is to educate and inform the local aviation community and give small airports a voice that is largely ignored by most local media outlets. To that end, Wingman strives to provide balanced and accurate reporting on local issues without fear or favor.

Feature stories are not paid by the subject. Advertising with Wingman does not guarantee a feature story and it is not required to be featured in a story. Wingman Aviation News follows the journalist code of ethics and does not give or receive any funds in exchange for editorial coverage. All editorial decisions are those of Wingman.
