A single engine Piper PA-32 has reportedly gone down in a field near Rio Linda Airport (L36) Wednesday afternoon.

Rio Linda Online reported that the 40 year old male pilot and a 72 year old passenger were transported to an area hospital with injuries. Sac Fire is reporting the injuries are critical, according to the news outlet.

The crash site appears to be a field about a half mile south-south east of the threshold for Rio Linda’s runway 35. It is not immediately clear if the aircraft was on approach to runway 35 or on depature from runway 17.

Vehicle traffic on Rio Linda Boulevard is affected, according to Rio Linda Online.

The field is near Robla Elementary School and surrounded on two sides by residential developments.

Records from the FAA show that the aircraft, tail number N2795Q, is registered to A&R Aero LLC. based in Sacramento.
