New details are available on the crash-landing of a medical transport helicopter as the company operating the aircraft releases a statement.

Global Medical Response, the medical transport company that operates the EC-130 helicopter that crash-landed on Highway 50, released a statement following the incident Monday night expressing well wishes for the crew.

The two women and one man on board are in critical condition following the crash, according to news reports. There were no patients on board.

“We are aware of an accident involving a REACH Air Medical helicopter on Highway 50 in Sacramento this evening and are keeping all those impacted in our thoughts and prayers,” Public Relations Director Kirsten Gurmendi said. “We are in the process of determining the details of this situation, as well as the condition of the REACH crew involved, who were all taken to area hospitals. We will continue to provide information as it becomes available. There was no patient on board. We appreciate the concern and support from our community and will share updates when appropriate.”

A report from KCRA3 shows about 15 bystanders helped lift the helicopter off of one of the victims. Eastbound lanes of Highway 50 were closed for several hours following the crash as the victims were transported to an area hospital and authorities gathered evidence for the investigation.

In a recording from Live ATC obtained by Wingman, the pilot of REACH 5 can be heard communicating with Sacramento Executive (SAC) tower just before the crash. The pilot reported he was about eight miles to the north flying at about 3,000 feet with weather information whiskey.

A ground track map shared by Aviation 24/7 shows the aircraft in a descending flight path from the north following Stockton Boulevard. The helicopter then made a left turn towards the helipad at UC Davis. The flight path appears to show the helicopter touch down at UC Davis then depart again before crash-landing on the freeway.

There are no mayday calls or emergency communications from the pilot on the recording.
