The annual Experimental Aircraft Association’s Air Venture at Oshkosh during July 21 through 27 draws thousands of aviation enthusiasts from all around the world, but here is a rundown of local events this July for those staying in the Sacramento area.

Aerospace Museum of California summer camps throughout July
The Aerospace Museum of California at McClellan (KMCC) is offering week-long summer camps throughout July for children in incoming 4th grade through 6th grade. The camps are scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday. 

The Sky Explorers camp focuses on the basics of flight with the first session starting on Monday, July 7th and another session beginning Monday, July 21. 

Budding engineers can also sign up for the Dream It… Build It camp to learn problem-solving challenges and teamwork through hands-on projects. Sessions start Monday, July 14th with a second session starting Monday, July 28.

The cost is $385 per session and parents or guardians can sign up their children through the museum’s website.

The museum is also hosting Roaring Rockets on Saturday, July 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees can participate in hands-on activities to learn about the science of rocketry.

Hobbyists can visit the Aerospace Museum of California on Saturday, July 19th to view hand crafted model aircraft, ships, cars, and more. Radio-controlled aircraft will also be on display. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

July 4th through 6th from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Nevada County Airport (KGOO)
Biplane rides are available at the Nevada County Airport, according to an announcement by the Golden Empire Flying Association. Tickets are $250 for a 20 minute flight in a 1999 Waco YMF-5 biplane. Proceeds will go toward local aviation scholarships, according to the announcement. 

Saturday, July 5 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Sutter County Airport (O52)
Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 1593 is hosting their monthly display day and cheesesteak lunch. Chapter President Dallan Reese said proceeds will go toward a scholarship fundraiser. 

The chapter is also hosting Young Eagles flights on Friday, July 11, Reese said. The monthly chapter meeting is scheduled for Saturday, July 12.

Saturday, July 5, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Placerville Airport (KPVF)
Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 512 is scheduled to hold their monthly pancake breakfast. No further details were available from the automated calendar.

Tuesday, July 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Yolo County Airport (KDWA)
Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 52 is scheduled to hold a pancake breakfast. No further details were available from the automated calendar.

Saturday, July 21, at 9:00 a.m. at Sacramento Executive (KSAC)
Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 25 is scheduled to hold their monthly meeting at Sacramento Executive Airport. No further details were available from the automated calendar.
