A private jet overran the runway at Auburn Municipal Airport (AUN) Tuesday, coming to rest upright in a grassy area, photos from the City of Auburn show.
The incident occurred just before 10:30 a.m. when city officials received a report that an aircraft had overrun Runway 25, according to a release by the city. No injuries were reported, according to the release.
The aircraft was a twin-engine Eclipse 500 jet registered to an LLC in Idaho, FAA records show. The flight originated from Coeur d’Alene Airport–Pappy Boyington Field (COE), according to aviation flight tracking site Flightradar24.
Runway 7/25 was closed as of Tuesday afternoon. The city said the runway will remain closed while personnel and the aircraft remain at the location.
“Given the size and location of the aircraft, recovery may not occur immediately,” the release said.
Airport Manager Tyghe Richardson responded to the scene along with personnel from the Auburn Police Department and Auburn Fire Department, the city said.
Runway 7/25 is a 3,700-foot strip, according to published FAA data. The airport’s only published Area Navigation (RNAV) GPS approach is for Runway 7. Auburn Municipal Airport has an elevation of 1,538 feet above sea level.
The airport’s METAR weather data at the time of the incident show winds were variable at 4 knots with clear skies.
